Tis the Season

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year. From the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, to the carols, the cheer, the excitement in the air, and most of all the sense of family and community.

There are so many great things to do in Ottawa  to get into the holiday spirit. One of my favorites is the "The Gift of Christmas", an annual performance  by the Bethel Pentecostal Church.

Every year they not only come together to put on an incredible show but they make you feel as part of their community as soon as you walk in the door. Their also collect donations to support local and internationally charities as well as canned food items for those in need.

Each performance includes holiday hymns and Christmas songs performed by talented artists of young and old. More than once I've had goosebumps and have been brought to tears by the quality of talent present in these productions.

The most amazing part of the show includes performances by a choir inside the "Singing Christmas Tree" where the choir performs from inside a huge  tree filled with 3500 lights. Also in each  production there are Surprise Reunions. Excitement and emotions run high as families and friends are reunited with a love one each year.

This years performances run from December 2nd - 4th and December 9th to 11th. If you want to get in the holiday spirit, I suggest you check it out! But make sure you get there early - the parking lot and the church fill up quickly with people waiting to see what the Gift of Christmas is all about.
This years donations will support Habitat for Humanity as well as A Home for Agnes, an orphanage and school located in Ghana.
