Ottawa's More than Just Desserts

Last Friday night we attended the annual charity event for The Arthritis Society - "Ottawa's More Than Just Desserts" with some good friends of ours. We had never heard of this event but couldn't  pass up the chance for an evening out in our "Sunday Best"

Upon arriving we had the chance to sample the food and beverages from the various vendors surrounding the banquet hall and mingle with the other attendees while we were entertained by the famous Dueling Pianos from Fat Tuesdays.

Our beautiful table 32!
The event was kicked off with various speakers such as Mayor Jim Watson, the honorary chair. I got the chance to meet him and have my picture taken with him. He was more than willing to pose with me and was very friendly and approachable.

As the evening progressed,  we were touched by a heart-warming speech from the invited speaker who shared her experience with us and helped to drive home the reality of how it is to live with Arthritis.

One of the main focuses of this event was the dessert tasting and judging. We got to sample 3 delicious desserts and submit our votes for our favorites. It was very tough to chose one as they were all so good!

One of the 3 scrumptious dessert.
Throughout the evening there were also various opportunities for us to donate funds to this great cause such as a silent auction, live auction and even a balloon draw!
Cecily was excited to try to win a prize in the balloon draw!!!

All in all I thought this was a fabulous evening for a great cause. To top the night off the Responsible Choice service was provided to all guests to make sure everyone got home safe. We are already looking forward to returning next year!
