DINING CLUB: Two Six {ate}

This month's dining club brought us to Two Six {ate} a small plate nose-to-tail restaurant on Preston Street.

                                 

First off - they have a great wine selection and some great craft beer on tap. They had offerings from Beyond the Pale, Broadhead and Beau's - much to our delight.

We started off by ordering some smaller sharing plates around the table, which were exceptional. We sampled a radish filled salad, arancini (risotto balls), mini fried calzones, and shrimp and pork pogos. My favorite of all of the smaller sharing plates had to be the pogos. The combo of shrimp and pork was juicy and delicious - I'd absolutely come back for these!


Our larger sharing plates includes the steak and tates, the pasta special (gnocchi with sausage and mushroom), an open-faced pork sandwich and the scallops. Again, some great flavors among the offerings - we had the steak and pasta and the steak was cooked to perfection, melting in your mouth like butter. 



We dabbled in a few desserts before heading out - my friends had to sample the fried PB&J sandwich while we had the tiramisu and chocolate pot de crème. The tiramisu was smooth and delicious but hard to finish as the portion was quite large. The pot de crème was velvety smooth and how can you go wrong with Pascale's icecream on the side?

Overall a very tasty meal that left us full - however it's definitely the kind of place you would go with time to linger. The service was slow but most likely due to the nature of the restaurant. With smaller courses you tend to space them out more. Just something to keep in mind.
