Ottawa definitely has an active beer community and I really love how we come together for beer events with a mutual love of great craft beer. One of the products of this beer love is a small group of us that formed that we're calling Ottawa Beer Bloggers, as many of us take part in some form of blogging or just love craft beer in general.
After one of our get togethers, which usually involves sharing beer and lots of laughter, we thought it would be fun to emulate #beerchat, a chat about beer that takes place on the twitterverse every Thursday night. From this we created #ONBeerChat, a weekly beer chat for us Ontarians, with ever-changing hosts and topics.
This week I volunteered to host the chat and chose Summer Beer as a topic, as I knew I'd be diving into Muskoka Brewery"s summer release "Summer Weiss".
Pouring a hazy golden, the classic Hefeweizen aromas of yeast mixed with banana along with citrus fruit were apparent once poured. Taste is quite sweet, mainly consisting of banana and orange with great carbonation and medium mouthfeel and a touch of sweet honey on the finish.
Very refreshing brew that will pair well with sunshine and patios.
It was a great inspiration for a summer themed #ONBeerChat! Hope to see you online next week. #ONBeerChat takes place every Tuesday at 8pm ET.
