LISTED: Spring is in the Air! Ottawa and Area Farmer's Markets Return!

With tulips in bloom across the city, the farmer's markets across the city are lifting the tarps and dusting off the stalls to display this years fresh crops.

One of the largest in the city, Brewer's Park Market opened just 2 weeks ago, and others are following, with most promising to be open by the end of the weekend.

I've compiled a list of a few of the market's in Ottawa and surrounding areas - I know I'm definitely looking forward to some of the fresh produce after a long cold winter!


Almonte Farmers Market - Opening May 17th
When & Where: Saturday 8:30 am - 12:30 pm at Almonte Public Library Parking Lot
What you'll find: In season fruits and veggies, perennials, and other locally grown items, flowers, baked good, woodworking and other hand crafted items like knitting and sewing, preserves, berries, organic meat and honey

Brewer Park (Near Carleton University)
When & Where: Sundays 8:00 am – 3:00 pm at Brewer Park, Sloan Avenue
Parking: Across the street in university Lot 5 - get the free parking pass here
What you'll find: Ottawa's largest market with over 100 vendors of locally-grown produce, meats, and eggs, and locally-made breads, preserves, cheeses, ice cream and other desserts

Byron Park (Westboro) - Opening May 17th
When & Where: Saturdays 9:30 am – 3:00 pm in Byron Park
Parking: Along street on Byron /Richmond/Golden, paid parking garage off of Byron
What you'll find: More than 65 vendors!

ByWard Market:
When & Where: Daily 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the Byward Market
Parking: Street parking/Paid parking in and around Byward Market
What you'll find: Produce availability list

Carleton Place Farmer's Market
When & Where:  Saturdays  9:00 am - 1:00 pm at 7 Beckwith St. (corner of Lake Ave.) in Carleton Place
What you'll find: Seasonal vegetables, fruits and plants as well as “Taste Tour of Lanark” food demos every 2nd Saturday starting in June.

Carp Farmer's Market:
When & Where: Saturdays 8:00 am. -1:00 pm at the Carp Fair Grounds
Parking: free parking in front of market
What you'll find: The largest producer-based Farmers' Market in Eastern Ontario - Events Calendar

Centrum Plaza (Orleans) - Opening May 16th
When & Where: Fridays 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at 240 Centrum Boulevard
Parking: free parking in front of market
What you'll find: A small intimate market with a great range of vendors of local produce, meats, maple syrup, breads, baked goods and occassional crafters.

Cumberland Farmer's Market - Opening in June
When & Where:  Saturdays,  8:00 am. to 1:00 pm at the R.J. Kennedy Community Centre
Parking: In community centre's main parking lot and on the street along Dunning Rd.
What you'll find: A variety of local area producers bringing you fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, specialty foods, homemade treats and a variety of artisan goods, on a weekly basis.

Field House at Parkdale Market
When & Where:   Friday - Sundays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at 21 Hamilton Avenue North (behind Parkdale Market)
Parking: Street parking available
What you'll find: Bryson Farms’ fresh and frozen vegetables as well as our full line of healthy frozen prepared foods, beef, lamb, wild boar, red deer, mushrooms, asparagus, fiddleheads, goat/cow cheeses, apples, pies, jams, eggs, honey, maple syrup, berries (in season), and so much more! New vendors are being included all the time and we hope of make this market an exciting place for everyone to shop!

Kanata Farmers Market
When & Where:   Saturdays 8:00 am - 3:00 pm at 420 Hazeldean Rd

Kemptville Kinsmen Farmers' Market - Opening May 25th
When & Where: Sundays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 200 Sanders Street, at the corner of Oxford and Rideau in Old Town Kemptville
What you'll find: A producers’ market providing seasonally available, locally grown or produced vegetables, fruit, beef, chicken, lamb, sausage, herbs, flowers, seedlings, baked goods, bread, beverages, crepes, honey, Indian and Thai cuisine, maple products, preserves, arts & crafts and more

Main Farmers Market:
When & Where:  Saturdays: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm on the grounds of Saint Paul University
Parking: free parking in the lot across the street from the Market
What you'll find: Shopping locally at our community volunteer-run Market, various activities such as; Live music, Face painting , Children’s crafts ,and best of all, food, flowers, neighbors, sunshine (we hope).

Manotick Farmer's Market - Opening June 1st
When & Where:  Saturdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm at Watson's Mill, Manotick
What you'll find: Producer-only” market consisting of meats, cheeses, vegetables, grains & baked goods.

North Gower Farmer's Market - Opening May 31st
When & Where:  Saturdays  8:30 am. to 1:00 pm on the corner of Fourth Line Road and Roger Stevens Drive.
What you'll find: More than 45 vendors. There is local produce, plants, meat, eggs, homemade food and baking. Talented artisans offer handcrafted pottery, jewellery, art, knitting, woodworking and much more.

Ottawa Organic Farmers Market
When & Where:  Saturdays 10:00 am. - 2:00 pm at 1644 Bank Street, near Heron
Parking: Canadian Tire parking lot
What you'll find: A sumptuous selection of Certified Organic Meats, Breads, Vegetables, Fruits, Olive Oil, Teas, Herbs, as well as skin care products.

Parkdale Market
When & Where:   Everyday 6:00am - 6:00pm on West side of Parkdale avenue between Wellington and

Armstrong street
Parking: Street parking
What you'll find: Fresh produce, flowers, plants and shrubs  seven days a week. Winter activities at the Market include the selling of Christmas trees, wreaths and firewood.

Sparks Street Market: 
When & Where:  Thursdays and Fridays 10:00am - 5:00 pm on Sparks Street between O'Connor Street and Metcalfe Street in front of CIBC and Scotia Bank.
Parking: Street parking or World Exchange Centre
What you'll find: Vendors featuring fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious homemade baked goods, freshly prepared foods, artisan crafts, all locally produced and made with quality ingredients
